Choosing Hope over Heartache

Luke's Story

Charles Lucas was born on December 20, 2016. He appeared perfectly healthy. He had strawberry blonde hair, he rarely cried, and he loved to keep his hands up close to his face.
He was, and still is, the perfect addition to our family.
On December 24th, 2016, our four day old newborn became very lethargic. We took him to his two-day checkup, and he was immediately admitted to our local hospital. After about eight stressful hours, Luke was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder and airlifted to Children's of Alabama. He then underwent multiple procedures aimed at saving his little life, but they just didn’t work. We are very sad to say that our baby never made it back to his earthly home, but we rejoice in the fact that he was received into the loving arms of Jesus on that Christmas Eve night.
We don’t think Luke’s story ended on that sad night in Birmingham. We believe that Luke’s life was meant to impact more people than the few he knew in his short four days with us. And that is how Luke’s Legacy started.
Our goal for Luke’s Legacy is to use the story of his life to minister to the families who were awaiting one of life’s most precious gifts but are now faced with trials they never knew to expect. We make care packages for families of sick infants both local to Dothan, AL and at Children’s of Alabama, and we would love for you to help us in carrying on Luke’s Legacy.
